Get Your Booster Shot. Help Protect Yourself and Others
This was an assignment to create a landing page of our choice. The problem was the fight against COVID-19, and the solution was giving people reasons to get their booster shots (and providing them with all the information they need in order to make an educated decision about getting the booster.
Haven’t seen much information about COVID-19 recently? Still considering whether or not you should get a COVID booster shot? Did you get the original completed series and then call it quits? Do you believe that COVID is no longer a threat to society, since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared an end to the global health emergency? One of the most important recommendations to help in the fight against COVID, until this disease has completely been eradicated, is to make sure you have received the necessary vaccines and booster shots. This is the number one way to help protect yourself and others, while remaining vigilant in this fight.
From April 29th, 2024, to May 26th, 2024, there were over 129,000 new cases reported globally. Yes, WHO did declare an end to the global health emergency, but that doesn’t mean that COVID no longer exists. We shouldn’t let our guards down because it’s still spreading around the world. In order to help protect yourself and others, one of the steps you can take is getting vaccinated along with the up-to-date booster. The CDC recommends any of the updated COVID-19 vaccines to protect against serious illness from COVID-19:
• Pfizer-BioNTech
• Moderna
• Novavax

The only difference between the vaccines is how they help you and your immune system fight the virus. Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines are mRNA vaccines. mRNA vaccines use mRNA to teach your cells how to make proteins to protect against the virus. The Novavax vaccine is a protein subunit vaccine. Protein subunit vaccines contain harmless copies of the protein that are found in the virus. Upon vaccination, your body recognizes the proteins don’t belong and your immune system will produce antibodies to protect against the virus.
If you’re considering getting vaccinated and/or a booster shot, there are many benefits including:
• helping to prevent serious illness, hospitalization, or death
• they offer added protection to anyone who had COVID-19
• they are a safer way to build protection against COVID-19
You shouldn’t just stop after the series because the booster is an important part of protecting yourself and others as new strains of the virus emerge. People who are up to date with their vaccines have a lower risk of severe illness, hospitalization and death than people who are unvaccinated or who have not completed the doses recommended for them. You wouldn’t enter into a dangerous situation halfway protected, so why would you let it happen to your body?
Once the first batch of vaccines was released, they were very hard to come by. Even then, you had to do a deep dive on where they were accessible. Trying to get the vaccine is no longer an inconvenience and hard-to-do-task. You can use Vaccines.gov to find locations near you that offer appointments to get the vaccine. Besides the vaccination and the booster, you should also mask up, wash your hands and social distance. These steps were proven to work during the pandemic so they will continue to help in the fight against COVID by helping you protect yourself and others.
